Star wars  on the big screen and DVD rental

Star wars is a film phenomenon which has spanned not one but more than three generations of children growing up. The film was thought of a produced by George Lucas, the first film which was released on 25 May 1977 was called Star Wars, the film was such a box office success that two sequels where released in quick succession. The first of them was called the Empire Strikes Back, was released on 21 May 1981 and again was a box office success which characters such as R2D2, C3PO and Luke Skywalker becoming household names.

R2D2, C3PO and Luke Skywalker along with Princess Lea, Chewbacca are the good guys. Yoda is the teacher of the jedi and wise master of the force. Darf Vada is the bad guy and the main character they are battling against through the film. Star wars Episode IV was the next film to be released on 25 May 1983 and is probably better known to fans for being called the Return of the Jedi. These films were played over and over on British television and at the time of their released sparked buying hysteria with regard to merchandise. Most children for Christmas received something to do with Star wars whether it an annual or a plastic character from the films.

The actors who took major parts in the first three films all went on to different things, Mark Hamill who played Luke Skywalker in the film went on to do a lot of voice over work, he was the one who did Jokers laugh in the bat man films. Carrie Fisher went on to star in many other films such as The Blues Brothers, Austin Powers, Scream 3 and has made her name as an author of books. Peter Cushing was known all over the world for his portrayal of different characters not only in Star Wars but in Dracula and The Curse of Frankenstein. Harrison Ford went on to the big screen and became a box office and household name with films such as Raiders of the lost Arch, The Fugitive, Clear and Present Danger, What Lies Beneath and many more films.

Films such as Star Wars can be bought or rented on DVD. There are many online video and DVD shops which offer DVD rental (DVD Verleih) and mailing DVDs (DVD Versand), which means you can choose a video or DVD and these can be mailed out to you, you just post them back after, as simple as that.
